BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – FC Cincinnati 2 conceded twice in the second half to drop a 3-1 decision Sunday night at Chicago Fire FC II.
With the loss, FCC 2 fall to 1-6-0 (3 points). The Fire II squad improve to 1-3-3 (7 points).
Down 1-0, Andrew Akindele equalized for the Orange and Blue in the 29th minute, just one minute after the Fire’s opener. Nick Markanich found Akindele down the right side, where the goal scorer took on two defenders in a streaking solo effort towards the box where he scored from a tight angle approaching the end line.
The goal was Akindele’s first for FCC 2. Chicago scored the game-winner in the 57th minute, followed by an insurance strike in the 85th.
FCC 2 return home to face New England Revolution II next Sunday from NKU Soccer Stadium in Highland Heights, Kentucky. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
