Liverpool player claims he ‘never’ watches Man City with it being a ‘waste of energy’

Liverpool midfielder James Miler has claimed that he “never” watches Manchester City’s games as he sees it as a “waste of energy”.

The Reds are currently three points adrift of Man City in the Premier League table with two games to go.

Pep Guardiola’s side will all but seal the title if they beat West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Liverpool’s focus switches to the FA Cup this weekend as they face Chelsea in the final on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking on Man City, Milner suggested that he does not see the point in watching Man City’s games:

“I never, ever watch their games. It was the same when I was at City and it was going down to the wire,” Milner told The Athletic.

“You sit there, so tense, hoping, a waste of energy. I can’t do anything about it.”

Reflecting on his first couple of seasons under Jurgen Klopp, he said: “I had a season at left-back.

“Looking back now, I don’t know whether the manager thought I was going to be here or whether he thought I’d be phased out — I was probably at the back of the queue — but I managed to find my way back in.

“You have spells like that at every club, where it’s make-or-break. That’s a proud time for me because I managed to fight my way back into midfield and I’m still here now.”

Chelsea forward Timo Werner has revealed that a move to Liverpool was a “big possibility” for him:

“The only thing I can say is [Liverpool] have a German manager,” Werner told the Evening Standard. “I have known him for many years before, because when I was in Stuttgart, he talked about going to Dortmund. Then I played not so well, so it was done.

“When I was in Leipzig, I had the possibility to come to the Premier League. Liverpool were also in my thoughts and were a big possibility for me, but at the end I decided for Chelsea and I won the Champions League title last year. It…
