SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will face Sacramento Republic FC in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday, May 25 (7:30 p.m. PT) at Heart Health Park in Sacramento, Calif. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Match highlights can be found here . The Quakes had previously earned a 5-0 home win over Bay Cities FC (NISA) on April 19 at PayPal Park.

Sacramento Republic FC enters the Round of 16 after defeating Central Valley Fuego FC (USL League One) 2-1 on April 20 and Phoenix Rising FC (USL Championship) 2-0 on May 11. Both matches were played at Heart Health Park.

San Jose and Sacramento have met three prior times in U.S. Open Cup play. After earning a 2-1 victory at Kezar Stadium in 2014, the Quakes then erased a late two-goal deficit to tie the game and later win in a penalty shootout in 2015. Most recently, the Earthquakes earned a 4-3 win over the USL Championship side at PayPal Park on June 11, 2019. All three matches were in the Fourth Round of the competition.

The Quakes currently hold a 20-16 all-time record in U.S. Open Cup play, including a 17-3 record against non-MLS teams.

Should the Earthquakes defeat Sacramento Republic FC on May 25, they would play at the winner of LA Galaxy vs. Los Angeles Football Club in the Quarterfinals on June 21 or June 22.
