Alisson insists Liverpool “really want to win” the FA Cup in a veiled warning to Chelsea, as the Reds look to win the only trophy they have not yet claimed under Jurgen Klopp.
The Anfield outfit have won the Premier League, Champions League, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup since Klopp was appointed back in October 2015. However, the FA Cup is the only major trophy they haven’t won under the German.
Victory in Saturday’s Wembley showpiece against Chelsea would also keep the club’s quadruple bid alive.
Klopp’s men beat Chelsea to lift the EFL Cup in February. They will also face Real Madrid in the Champions League final later this month and are still in the Premier League title race.
Chelsea themselves will also be highly motivated to claim the famous silverware, having lost the last two FA Cup finals to Arsenal and Leicester respectively.
But speaking to Liverpool‘s website ahead of the game, Alisson admits he’s “really looking forward” to the match.
The Brazilian said: “It’s my first FA Cup final and a trophy that this group hasn’t won yet.
“But we want to really win this title. It’s something that we set our targets on at the beginning of the season and now we’ve arrived here.
“We have a massive opportunity to win that and we will give it 100 per cent to try to do that.”
Passion key to sustained Liverpool energy
Liverpool have four more huge games to play in the next 16 days as and Alisson admits tiredness is a factor. Indeed, the Reds will have played 63 competitive games by the time the campaign ends.
“Sometimes when you are tired, you just need to put into your mind you can go for extra,” said Alisson when asked about the schedule. “And if you go with passion and do everything that you can, you see normally that you have a little bit of energy.
