Tropics Need Two Wins for One Goal, a Major Arena Soccer League Championship

Do Or Die, Tropics Will Host KC Comets in Game Two, Mini-Game this Saturday in Lakeland

May 7, 2022 – Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) – Florida Tropics SC News Release

SAN DIEGO – One way or another, the Florida Tropics sixth-season in the Major Arena Soccer League will come to an end Sunday in San Diego.

The only question is, will they return to Lakeland with a league championship, or have to settle for a runner up finish in their sixth season of play in the MASL?

The Sockers will host the Tropics for Game Two of the 2022 Ron Newman Cup Finals at Pechanga Arena with kickoff set for 8:05 p.m. EST. San Diego took Game One in Lakeland Monday night 6-3, allowing the Sockers to score the game’s last four goals, two of them into an empty net as Florida was playing with a sixth-attacker.

Should Florida win Game Two, a 15-minute Knockout Game will be played immediately at the conclusion of that contest to determine who will take home the cup. Florida is just 2-7 lifetime against San Diego – including two neutral-site playoff losses in the 2021 Cup post season – and is 0-1 playing in San Diego, an 11-4 loss suffered back in March.

Both games, if necessary, will be broadcast live on the MASL TV on Twitch and Sirius XM Radio Channel 157.

Florida’s Zach Reget, who’s two fourth quarter goals in Game one gave the Tropics a short-lived 3-2 lead, continues to lead all playoff scorers in both goals (9) and total points (15.) Kraig Chiles continues to lead San Diego with 12 points on eight goals and four assists.
