Ismaila Sarr price tag set as transfer talks with Watford winger’s agent reported

Ismaila Sarr in action for Watford

Newcastle are in the hunt to sign Ismaila Sarr from Watford following reports transfer talks with the winger’s agent have already taken place.

Newcastle are looking to draft in a host of new signings when the window opens. Plenty of names have already been linked and Sarr is known to be on the radar. Indeed reports earlier in the month claimed Newcastle had Sarr high on the wanted list.

It is about that time that Newcastle officials are said to have held talks with Sarr’s agent. FootballTransfers report that the Magpies met with Saif Rubie in London last month.

Rubie is also the agent of Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger. A new centre-back is high on Newcastle’s list of targets, but Rudiger was not the subject of the conversation. Eddie Howe would no doubt love to have him on board, but a move to Real Madrid has been agreed.

Instead it is Sarr that Newcastle are interested in getting on board. Watford are heading for relegation from the Premier League and Sarr looks certain to move on.

The Hornets will need to cut their cloth accordingly and it is inevitable that players will leave. Sarr looks set to be one of the most in-demand players from their squad.

Newcastle would face competition to get a deal done. Liverpool have long been linked with a swoop for the winger. They will be looking to bolster their ranks in the summer and Sarr is on the radar.

Reports in Italy have also suggested that AC Milan are “very interested” in the player.

Sarr himself was recently quizzed about all the talk and played it with a straight bat. The Senegal international claimed the links were just just rumours and he remained in the dark.

However with Watford heading to the Championship he may be thinking about his next step. And staying in the Premier League would be an attractive proposition. During the talks with Rubie, Newcastle were told that Watford would be looking for £40m.
