‘Say his goodbyes after Brentford’

Monday night’s match with Brentford could be the final time Jesse Lingard plays at Old Trafford after a report shed light on what the future holds.

Manchester United host Brentford on Monday night in their final home match of the season. The Red Devils retain slim hope of snatching fourth spot, though the likely scenario is that the damage has already been done.

Erik ten Hag will take the reins this summer and the squad he inherits could look vastly different to the one he enters next season with.

However, ESPN have dismissed that notion and categorically stated Lingard will ‘say his goodbyes’ to Manchester United fans once the final whistle blows at Old Trafford tonight.

They state the 29-year-old is ‘set to play at Old Trafford for the final time’ as a United player and a free agent exit is now an inevitability.

A move within England is one possibility. Newcastle saw a loan deal collapse late into the winter window. West Ham too sized up a deal after his stellar loan spell under David Moyes last season.

However, according to ESPN, Lingard may have even more attractive proposals from two bona fide European giants.

Italian giants chasing Lingard

The report notes Serie A heavyweights AC Milan and Juventus are ‘leading the chase’ to secure the prized free agent coup.

AC currently top the charts in Italy, while Juventus have recovered from a slow start to sit fourth. Both clubs will have Champions League football to offer.
