Son admits he has ‘fallen in love’ with ‘angry’ Antonio Conte amid big Tottenham difference to Pochettino

Son Heung-min has admitted that he is loving live under current Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, amid the battle for a top-four finish.

Son has been at Spurs since 2015, when Mauricio Pochettino signed him from Bayer Leverkusen. The winger is therefore one of the longest-serving players at the club and has experienced the recent highs and lows.

In particular, the 29-year-old formed a crucial part of Pochettino’s team which reached the 2019 Champions League final.

Since Pochettino’s sacking just over five months later, Tottenham have had three managers all trying to turn the club back into a Premier League and European force.

Conte is the current incumbent of the role. He succeeded both Nuno Espirito Santo and Jose Mourinho and has faced similar struggles in his time in charge.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, Son explained the differences between the managers he as worked with. Indeed, the winger added his former Leverkusen boss Roger Schmidt into the mix.

“All managers have different details,” the South Korea international said. “Roger Schmidt was extreme pressing, crazy pressing I would say, which I really enjoyed and it was really good.

“Pochettino was different pressing. It’s hard to explain because footballers know what’s going on and this manager has a mind of the press but Conte is more about being compact.”

However, Son has insisted that Conte is arguably the most passionate manager he has worked under.

“It’s really positive energy because sometimes, as a manager, you can just sit on the bench and think ‘let’s hope we win this game’ but I never see him sit down,” Son said.

“He’s just into it, passionate. It feels like he’s playing with us, lucky I didn’t pass to him on the touchline because I feel like he’s playing with us. He’s giving us so much positive energy.
