‘It’s fake news’ – Unhappy Antonio Conte reacts to talk of swapping Tottenham for PSG

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has described speculation linking him with the Paris St Germain job as “fake news”.

Reports emerged in France and Italy earlier this week suggesting Conte was interested in replacing Mauricio Pochettino at the Ligue 1 club. However, speaking at his press conference for Sunday’s clash with Leicester, the Italian was adamant in his response to the rumours.

He said: “Obviously I think it is good that other clubs appreciate my work. But this is one thing. The truth is that I don’t like when people try to invent news, only to speak or create problems.

“This is not right or fair for me or for the clubs involved.

“This situation makes me smile, but I think the people that want to tell something like this have to show respect for all the people that are involved in this situation and not invent fake news and tell a lot of lies.”

Conte, who has one year left on his contract, added that he would discuss his Tottenham future at the end of the season.

“Now don’t listen to fake news and people for sure want to create problems for the environment,” he said.

“We have five games to play and then at the end of the season, in a private way, I will speak with my club and I will see the best solution.”

Conte laments Skipp absence

Conte also commented on Oliver Skipp being ruled out for remainder of the season earlier this week.

The midfielder recently underwent surgery on a pelvic injury he suffered in January in America. He is expected back for pre-season training and Conte admitted his absence will be a loss.

The Italian added: I have spoken to the doctors. They said the surgery was ok and for sure Oliver will be ready for pre-season.

“It’s a pity and don’t forget we lost two players like Skippy and Tanganga from January. And to not have two reliable players like them, it’s not good to manage this situation. It’s not good news.”
