January signing Bruno Guimaraes has praised Newcastle United fans for their “crazy” welcome to the club, as well as admitting his “dream”.

Expectation on Guimaraes was high following his £38million move from Lyon. The Brazilian set about getting fans on side almost immediately.

Guimaraes scored a goal on his first start, after appearing sparingly beforehand. He has gone on to register four goals and provide one assist in a Newcastle shirt since arriving.

Clearly, he is loving his time in the north east, as per an interview with ESPN Brazil.

“Where I go is crazy, madness, in a restaurant, in the stadium… I win a free-kick and the crowd goes ‘Bruno, Bruno’, so it’s something I hadn’t experienced yet. I was a great idol at Athletico, I think it’s the same level here. I’m in the clouds,” he said.

The fans have gotten right behind him since he joined the club and he is loving the support.

“Few clubs in England have a fanbase like Newcastle, playing against us at home is very difficult. I honestly didn’t expect so much and so fast,” he added.

The Brazilian also hailed Newcastle legend Alan Shearer for the warm welcome he gave him.

“When I signed with Newcastle, on the first day he already followed me and texted me good luck. He’s a legend, Newcastle’s top scorer, without a doubt the greatest player, so for me it’s gratifying,” he said.

“Sometimes we exchange messages. Having the support of the main name of the club gives you more confidence, for sure.”

“It would be really cool if he could come here, but I can’t do this…
