Emmanuel Dennis wanted by Champions League semi-finalists, with Watford asking for £20million

Watford ace Emmanuel Dennis

Watford star Emmanuel Dennis is picking up interest from a Champions League semi-finalist and could move for £20million this summer, according to a report.

The Nigerian forward got his big break when Watford signed him from Club Brugge in July 2021. He is enjoying an impressive debut season at Vicarage Road, having notched 10 goals and six assists in 31 Premier League games.

That includes goals in victories over Aston Villa, Everton and Manchester United. Dennis also chipped in with assists for his team-mates in each of those matches.

The 24-year-old’s output reduced between February and the first two weeks of April. But he got back in the goalscoring groove by finding the net against Brentford away from home recently.

Dennis clearly has too much ability to play in the Championship with Watford next term. He might need to become more reliable, but the five-time international could make it at a bigger club.

The Evening Standard provide an update on Dennis’ future. They claim he is a target for Unai Emery at Villarreal.

The Spanish outfit won last year’s Europa League final against Manchester United and are now in the UCL semis. However, they face a tough task to reach the final after losing 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield in the first leg.

Emery wants to improve his attacking options to continue Villarreal’s progress next season. And he views Dennis as an ideal target.

Emmanuel Dennis scouted by La Liga team

They have sent scouts to watch him on numerous occasions during 2021-22. Interest also comes from several other European teams, but it is Villarreal who are most likely to come in with a bid.

Emery likes the fact Dennis can operate as a centre-forward or on either flank. The player could work well with Arnaut Danjuma and Gerard Moreno at El Madrigal.

The Evening Standard believe Watford will command a fee of £20m to let Emmanuel Dennis go. Ideally, they want to keep him around, but admit this will be tough if they suffer relegation.
