Preview: Atlético Ottawa at York United

Viewing Party on Friday - OurSports Central

April 27, 2022 – Canadian Premier League (CPL) – Atletico Ottawa News Release

Atlético Ottawa head on the road for the first time this season as they play York United on Friday, April 29 (KO 7:30 PM ET, live on OneSoccer). After three consecutive home games – in which Atleti picked up a very respectable six points from a possible nine – Carlos González’s men face the test of playing without the phenomenal home support they receive at TD Place.

Looking to get back to winning ways, Ottawa take on a side who are still looking to establish their identity under new manager Martin Nash. Having not beaten York United before, and fuelled by the disappointment of last weekend, Friday offers an opportunity for Atleti to showcase the progress that was so apparent in their opening two fixtures.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Friday’s kick-off:

Atlético Ottawa currently sit in second place in the Canadian Premier League, two points ahead of 5th placed York United.

Goalkeeper Nathan Ingham returns to his former club where he spent three seasons before joining Atleti ahead of the 2022 campaign.

Ingham played 62 games keeping 17 clean sheets while at York United – he has two clean sheets in his first three appearances in the capital city.

York United picked up their first win of the season last weekend, beating Cavalry FC 2-0.

Out of the seven goals Atleti have scored in this fixture, three of them were scored by Canadian striker Malcolm Shaw.

Ottawa haven’t lost against York when Shaw (who has already scored one goal this year) has found the back of the net.

These two teams meet again soon after as Atlético Ottawa host York United at TD Place in the Canadian Championship (#CanChamp) on May 10, 2022.

Record head-to-head (all time): 0W-5D-1L; 7 goals scored, 9 goals conceded
