£23million Newcastle United steal for Bundesliga ace Evan Ndicka made trickier by Arsenal, Juventus

Evan Ndicka, Frankfurt, April 2022.

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on £23million Eintracht Frankfurt ace Evan Ndicka, though they face competition from the likes of Arsenal and Juventus.

Ndicka has racked up more than 100 appearances for Frankfurt in almost four seasons at the club. The defender enjoyed a fifth-placed finish in the Bundesliga last season.

He has been a fixture of the side for much of his time there and that has been no different this season. The Frenchman has played 29 games in the Bundesliga this season out of a possible 30.

He has had quite the campaign, especially going forwards. Ndicka has scored four goals and provided four assists in the league this term.

Furthermore, he both scored and assisted in his last game, a 2-2 draw against Hoffenheim. Coupling his attacking output with his defensive qualities, Ndicka appears to be quite the catch.

The Sun reports that Newcastle have added the 22-year-old to their summer shortlist. The Magpies have had a fantastic second half of the season that’s catapulted them into the top half of the league.

In a bid to solidify their status as a top-half team, they want some more quality signings, and Ndicka appears to be one of those. The centre-back would surely be a good fit to shore up the defence after being made to settle for Dan Burn in January.

Indeed, the likes of Sven Botman and Diego Carlos were targeted. However, it was Brighton’s Burn who ultimately arrived in a modest £13m deal.

Regarding Ndicka, it would appear that there will not be too many complications from Frankfurt’s end.

Ndicka’s contract is up in 2023, and the German side are apparently not planning on renewing it.

As such, they are reportedly willing to offload him for £23million this summer.

Newcastle face Ndicka competition

While the transfer would appear a steal and a simple one to pull off, it seems things might not be so straightforward for Howe’s men.  That is thanks to interest in Ndicka from a number of other parties.
