Patrick Vieira admitted his frustration after watching Crystal Palace draw 0-0 with Leeds and felt his side should have taken all three points.

Both sides were still looking over their shoulders prior to the contest but failed to find a goal between them. Palace dominated possession and had the better chances but the Whites defended well and held on for a valuable point. The result sees the Eagles move onto 38 points and open up a nine-point gap to the drop zone. Leeds have 34 to their name and are five points above 18th-placed Everton.

Although clear-cut chances were at a premium throughout the 90 minutes, the hosts showed most of the attacking threat. And the fact they did not make it count left Vieira vexed.

“I can be frustrated and the team can be frustrated,” he told BBC Sport. “We played some really good football with a high tempo and were the better team but we couldn’t find the net.

“I was pleased and happy with the determination we showed. We just lacked that bit of quality to score those goals.”

Wilfried Zaha is known as one of the most fouled players in th Premier League. And Monday’s encounter in south London was no different.

He managed to show his class at times but was constantly felled by the opposition. And Vieira was pleased with the way the Ivorian stayed calm.

“I was happy Wilf Zaha kept his cool because it looked like they planned to stop him by fouling him,” he added. “That won’t be the first time teams try to frustrate him.”

Vieira delighted with Palace effort

Crystal Palace had failed to win a top-flight match since beating Arsenal 3-0 on April 4. They are unlikely to get sucked into a relegation fight and it would be easy for the players to take their feet off the gas.
