Manchester City are cautiously weighing up whether to make a pursuit for Declan Rice, having been stung in a similar chase for Harry Kane last summer.

The current Premier League leaders are on the market for a central midfielder to replace long serving star Fernandinho who turns 37 next week and is approaching the latter years of his career.

West Ham and England star Rice perfectly fits the bill but David Moyes has stuck a £150million price tag on the 23-year-old which threatens to put many clubs off, according to the Telegraph.

City faced a similar scenario last season when trying to sign Kane from Tottenham, with a summer of negotiations coming to nothing between the clubs despite the England captain’s open desire to leave north London. 

City had earlier in the window signed Jack Grealish for £100milllion from Aston Villa, and a similar big money arrival is set to arrive in the shape of centre forward Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in the off-season. 

While Rice has not been as open in a wish to leave the capital, the midfielder has recently rejected a third contract offer from the club that would extend his current deal that expires in two years.
