Paul Pogba has played his last game for Manchester United and will quit Old Trafford as a free agent this summer.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick confirmed Pogba is set to miss the rest of the season with the calf injury he suffered in Tuesday’s 4-0 defeat at Liverpool, and expects United’s £89million record signing to leave for nothing when his contract runs out in June.

It brings down the curtain on a desperately disappointing second spell at United, who broke the world record to re-sign Pogba from Juventus in 2016.

Rangnick said: ‘The doctor told me it will take four weeks minimum for him to recover, and the last game is the end of May. I don’t think it’s very likely he will play again.

‘As it seems right now, he will not renew his contract. Maybe the club or Erik (ten Hag) will not want to renew his contract, I don’t know. It’s most likely he won’t be here any more next season.’
