Mo Salah reiterates love for Liverpool in fresh admission over contract talks; makes ‘money’ claim

Liverpool ace Mo Salah has reinforced his love for the club while making a new admission about his contract negotiations.

The 29-year-old wants a new deal at Anfield and his agent is in talks with Liverpool officials over an extension. However, the Reds are yet to meet Salah’s wage demands, which reportedly sit at more than £400,000 a week.

Liverpool will need to come up with a solution soon as Salah’s current contract expires in 2023. Should the parties fail to reach an agreement, then the Egypt international may have to be sold next January.

That would be a huge blow for Jurgen Klopp’s side given Salah’s fantastic form this campaign. He is the Premier League’s top scorer with 22 goals from 30 appearances so far.

After a rare barren run, Salah got back to his best against Manchester United earlier this week. He registered two goals and an assist during Liverpool’s impressive 4-0 win against the Red Devils.

In an interview with FourFourTwo (via Sky Sports), Salah was asked if he is confident about remaining on Merseyside.

The right winger claimed his future is not defined by money. “I don’t know, I have one year left,” he said. “I think the fans know what I want, but in the contract it’s not everything about the money at all.

“So I don’t know, I can’t tell you exactly. I have one year left and the fans know what I want.”

Salah then spoke about how much he loves being at Liverpool. “This club means a lot to me,” he added. “I’ve enjoyed my football here more than anywhere, I gave the club everything and everybody saw that.

“I’ve had a lot of unbelievable moments here, winning trophies, individual goals, individual trophies. It’s like a family here.”

Salah was asked if he can see himself staying at Liverpool next term even if a new contract isn’t agreed.

“Yeah. Er, I think so?” he replied. “But if they want me to go, that’s something different!
