‘It’s obvious’ – Ralf Rangnick offers help to Ten Hag over transfers; details response to Man Utd defeat

Ralf Rangnick is willing to help incoming boss Erik ten Hag when it comes to Manchester United transfers, while the German has also revealed the response to the Liverpool defeat.

Ten Hag will take over as manager at the end of the campaign after signing a three-year contract. However, his capture also comes at a difficult time for the club.

They were beaten 4-0 by Liverpool in their last outing. It was a dreadful display from Manchester United and was met with dismay from club legend Gary Neville.

The only positive the pundit could pick out was Hannibal Mejbri’s substitute appearance, as the youngster at least got in the faces of his opponents.

The defeat at Anfield left United in sixth place, three points behind Arsenal and Tottenham. They have also played an extra match than their rivals for fourth spot.

That means there is more pressure on Rangnick’s men to beat Arsenal away from home this weekend.

At the pre-match press conference, Rangnick was asked if the clash is a ‘must win’ for his team.

“I don’t think that it makes sense to speculate about how likely it still is for us to finish fourth or wherever,” he replied (via Manchester Evening News). “It doesn’t make sense, after a performance like that at Liverpool.

“We just need to make sure we play far better. This is the only way to deal with it.

“We need to get the best possible team on the pitch and play in a different way, with more conviction, more confidence and more aggressive behaviour on the pitch. We will have to show a completely different performance.”

Reporters asked Rangnick how his coaches and players reacted to the recent defeat. “We only trained yesterday because the day after the game was recovery,” he said.

“Yesterday we trained some issues in connection with the game, but the only real training session we’re going to have is now in an hour’s time.
