Liverpool have been backed to add Serge Gnabry to their plethora of elite forwards, and the comments of Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn suggest the winger is considering a move.
The Reds can already call upon five superstar forwards all capable of making an impact at the highest level. Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz are a quintet most managers could only dream of calling upon.
Yet Jurgen Klopp can, and the German also has Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino in reserve.
One might think that signing another superstar winger like Serge Gnabry would be overkill. However, that narrative was also pushed when Liverpool moved for Diaz in January and the Colombian has been a revelation.
What’s more, each of Firmino, Salah and Mane are out of contract in 2023. The Reds may be required to make additions sooner rather than later if any of those three are ultimately moved on.
The 26-year-old Gnabry could potentially fit that bill and has drawn links with the Reds in recent times. The Bayern ace has won all there is to win in Bavaria and Goal reported in early-April that the German is now considering his options.
His current deal expires in the summer of 2023 and Bayern are fully aware a contract extension will require a significant pay increase.
Juventus and Real Madrid were namechecked along with Liverpool. The fact Gnabry would reportedly prioritise sporting achievements could aid Liverpool’s hopes with Klopp’s side looking a real threat to scoop vast amounts of silverware in the coming years.
Gnabry “in the process of reflection”
Now, speaking to Sport1 journalist Kerry Hau, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn has shed light on Gnabry’s future.
The former goalkeeper revealed Bayern are currently in talks with Gnabry over a new deal. However, he hinted at the possibility Gnabry could move after admitting the forward is “in the process of reflection.”
“We’re in talks with Gnabry – we trust him,” said Kahn (via Fabrizio Romano)….
