Rangnick claims he 'doesn't know' if Ten Hag to Manchester United is a 'done deal'

Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has claimed he isn’t sure if the deal to bring in Erik Ten Hag as permanent boss is a done deal.

Ajax manager Ten Hag has reportedly agreed terms to take over at Old Trafford in the summer, although nothing has been officially announced yet.

An announcement is likely to come next week, once Ten Hag has got the Dutch Cup final out of the way.

However, Rangnick, speaking to the media ahead of United’s clash with Norwich, didn’t give much away surrounding the deal.

“I don’t know if it’s a done deal. My reply is the same as Erik Ten Hag’s was. My focus is on the game tomorrow.

“Again, we all know he is a good manager, that he has done a good job at Ajax and also at former clubs, but right now it doesn’t make sense to tell you what I think about any other coach.”

A small group of United fans protested outside of the club’s training ground on Friday afternoon, with many unhappy with how the club is being run. More protests are reportedly in the works for the upcoming weeks.

Rangnick admitted he could understand the fan frustrations at the club’s current position.

“We all know that football is a game of passions and emotions and we can all understand. I can understand the supporters being disappointed about where we stand in the table and the performance against Everton.

“I still believe our supporters are one of the best, if not the best in England, as long as they do the protest in a peaceful way and as long as they still support the team in the stadium.

“They have the right to express their opinion. Emotionally I can understand them being disappointed.”

Rangnick also provided an injury update for the game against Norwich, revealing he will be unable to call upon five players for the fixture.

“Five players will still be missing for tomorrow and some of them probably for the upcoming games.
