Arsenal 'turned down the chance' to sign thriving Tottenham winger Kulusevski in January

Arsenal turned down the chance to sign Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski in the window transfer window, according to reports.

In January, Kulusevski joined Tottenham on an 18-month loan from Juventus. Antonio Conte’s side have the option to make the deal permanent for £35m.

He has hit the ground running for Tottenham and has helped the north Londoners hit their stride under the Italian head coach.

They are now favourites to finish fourth in the Premier League after winning six of their last seven in the top flight.

The Sweden international has scored three and assisted six in his 13 Spurs appearances.

He has automatically clicked with teammates Heung-min Son and Harry Kane, who have also found their form at the perfect time.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal hard the opportunity to sign Kulusevski in the winter window, but opted against bringing him in as they already have two left-footed wingers in Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka.

Spurs ‘had no such reservations’ as they brought the Swede in alongside Rodrigo Bentancur, who was also being tracked by the Gunners, the report adds.

Both players have made an instant impact at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and are mainstays in Conte’s starting XI.

Numerous reports throughout January suggested that Arsenal would make a move for Kulusevski. They brought in no new players in the end after a move for Dusan Vlahovic failed to materialise.

It will be a big summer for the Gunners, who are chasing a new striker with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract at the end of the season.
