Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer is adamant that star forward Thomas Muller will not be leaving to join either Newcastle United or Everton.
The 32-year-old has been a proverbial one-club man to date in his superb career. Having come up through the club’s youth setup he made his first-team debut in August 2008. And the Germany international has never looked back, with 226 goals from 621 appearances in all competitions.
But he is much more than a goalscorer, with 19 assists to his name in 2021-2022. Those statistics and his standing in the game make it obvious why other clubs would want him on their books.
And the Premier League duo were linked with a summer move back in February. Newcastle are now able to compete with top clubs in the transfer market due to their Saudi-backed takeover.
And the fact that Muller will be out of contract in the summer of 2023 fuelled speculation over his possible exit. He revealed back in February that nobody from the club had approached him about the possibility of a new deal with the Bavarians.
However, Hainer is unconcerned about the rumours and has no doubt that Muller will never leave the club.
“I’m firmly convinced that Thomas Muller belongs to FC Bayern like the Frauenkirche (church) belongs to Munich,” he told BR24. “I’m firmly convinced he will end his career at FC Bayern.”
