Serie A giants’ hopes grow over Jorginho, Chelsea raid that would throw major spanner in Tuchel works

Juventus are beginning to feel more hopeful of bringing Chelsea midfielder Jorginho back to Serie A this summer, according to a report.

The Italy international initially moved to Stamford Bridge in 2018 from Napoli. He had interest from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, but chose Chelsea instead.

Indeed, he reunited with Maurizio Sarri, who also moved to west London that summer.

But Jorginho has proved a key figure under the three Chelsea managers he has worked with. As well as Sarri, he proved vital for Frank Lampard and now Thomas Tuchel.

Nevertheless, the 30-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of next season. His agent has continually flirted with trying to get his client a move back to Serie A.

The Turin side have made the Chelsea man a key summer target. They are therefore ready to offer him a ‘long-term contract’.

Chelsea cannot currently offer new contracts to players because of the sanctions on the club. The Blues are in a takeover process, but the search for a buyer is ongoing.

Jorginho has played 180 times for Chelsea, scoring 26 goals and assisting eight others.

This term, he has played 39 games including 24 in the Premier League.

The Blues are in something of a rut following the international break. They lost 4-1 to Brentford last Saturday, before Real Madrid won 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League on Wednesday.
