‘From what I know’ – Rangnick drops Ten Hag verdict amid Man Utd chase and reveals his plan

Ralf Rangnick has labelled Erik ten Hag a “top coach”, but refused to comment further as Manchester United chase the Ajax boss.

Rangnick is currently in interim charge at Old Trafford following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November. As a result, United have been working in recent weeks to find a long-term successor.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino initially emerged as a frontrunner.

However, Dutchman Ten Hag is now the favourite to take over. In fact, United are reportedly closing in on finalising a first move to the Premier League for the 52-year-old.

The latter development saw Rangnick face questions on the situation ahead of Saturday’s clash with Everton.

The German told a press conference: “I think this is the press conference for tomorrow’s game and I don’t intend to speak about any possible new managers here.

“From what I know, all the managers with whom the club has so far spoken are top managers, top coaches.

“If this includes Erik ten Hag, it also includes him, but that’s all I can say at this stage.

“It’s about preparing the team for the game and hopefully three points tomorrow.”

Rangnick added: “I know with which coaches they have spoken so far, that’s why I can say all the coaches they’ve spoken to so far are top coaches.

“But again, my focus is on tomorrow and then the upcoming games.”
