Manchester United in the hunt for prolific attacker but face two big hurdles

Manchester United remain firmly in the hunt to sign RB Leipzig ace Christopher Nkunku but face a big battle to get the deal over the line.

Nkunku is in hot demand and rightly so after a stunning campaign in Germany. He has not only scored 27 goals but chipped in with another 17 assists. So it is no surprise to see him on the wishlist of Europe’s top clubs.

United are one of them but there are a couple of hurdles that stand in their way. The first being the real possibility of no Champions League football at Old Trafford next season.

The Reds sit seventh on the table three points behind Tottenham in fourth. Arsenal in fifth have a played a game less so the gap could open to six points if they win it.

PSG in the hunt

Not being able to play Champions League football could be an issue for Nkunku. Especially when two of the other interested parties could offer it.

A report in Foot Mercato says the player’s former club Paris Saint Germain want him back. They are said to be in the box seat but Manchester City along with United are also mentioned.

The 25-year-old made a total of 55 appearances for PSG during a four-year spell. He scored eight goals before making the move to Leipzig in 2019. It is this season that he has burst in to life and the Parisians want him back.

The report also claims that PSG hope the signing would help to keep Kylian Mbappe. The two are good friends and a reunion could keep everybody happy.
