Manchester United midfield target Youri Tielemans sent huge warning about pre-World Cup transfer

Former Belgium star Philippe Albert says Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans should think twice about jumping ship to Manchester United before the 2022 World Cup.

The 24-year-old is out of contract at the King Power Stadium in June 2023. He has held talks over an extension but has yet to agree new terms, with his head understood to be thinking about a new challenge.

Still, the highly-rated midfielder has refused to give too much away about his future plans, although he has said to play in the Champions League is his aim.

“I don’t worry about it [speculation],” Tielemans told Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws recently. “I want to get the most out of myself this season and finish as high as possible with the team.

“Of course, I want to play in the Champions League, just like any footballer.

“Am I ready for a European top club? I’m ready to get the best out of my career. We’ll see what happens next summer, or the summer after that.”

Tielemans has said he has yet to make a decision on his future with Manchester United and Arsenal among others jostling in the queue to sign him.

And former Newcastle Albert, who was capped who 41 times by Belgium, thinks Tielemans should “wait and see” this summer.

“Last year, Youri had a much better season than now. And then, strangely enough, no one moved too much to buy out his contract,” Albert wrote for Le Soir, via F365.
