Napoli are formulating plans to replace their star man if Newcastle go big this summer, and Chelsea striker Armando Broja has been earmarked as an ideal replacement, per a report.

Whether Newcastle will spend big or adopt a more pragmatic approach this summer is open to debate. The common consensus was that if safe in the knowledge their Premier League status had been secured, Newcastle’s owners would show the true might of their financial power this summer.

However, the Telegraph presented a different view, instead stating a more modest spree would be sanctioned.

Regardless, links with some of Europe’s elite continue to come thick and fast. Few fit that bill better than Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

The 23-year-old striker would be the type of big-name arrival Magpies fans have been hoping for.

Osimhen has bagged 15 goals and four assists from 25 matches across all competitions this season. And given his age, he would be a signing for the mid and long-term too, not just the here and now.

However, Napoli would understandably be reluctant to lose their star man. As such, reports have indicated he could cost as much as £84m to buy.

Now, Italian source Alfredo Pedulla has shed new light on a potential Newcastle approach, and what Napoli would do in response.
