EVANSTON, Ill. – Goalkeeper Miha Miskovic signed with Chicago Fire FC II on Tuesday afternoon.

Chicago Fire FC today announced that the Club has signed goalkeeper Mihajlo Miškovic (pronounced: mee-HA-low MIS-koh-vich) to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract, pending league and U.S. Soccer Federation approval. His contract with Chicago Fire FC II will run through the 2022 season, with a Club option for 2023. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“We are very excited to welcome Miha back to the Chicago Fire,” said Chicago Fire FC Technical Director Sebastian Pelzer. “With his quality as a goalkeeper, Mihajlo will be relied upon to provide stability and confidence on the backline for the NEXT Pro team, while supporting and learning from our first-team goalkeepers.”
Miškovic, 23, played the previous five seasons at Northwestern University in Chicago, including the 2021 season as a graduate student. He made 62 appearances (41 starts) for the Wildcats. A native of Zemun, Serbia, Miškovic moved to the Chicago area as a teenager where he played for Chicago Magic before joining the Chicago Fire Academy. In 2021, Miškovic led the Wildcats to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals, saving a penalty during regulation time to keep the score at 0-0, and another in the penalty kick shootout to advance past No. 10 Maryland, before falling to eventual tournament finalist Indiana University.
“Miha’s leadership and impact on the team make him a very special player,” said Chicago Fire FC II head coach Ludovic Taillandier. “We have seen glimpses of what he can do and are very excited to go into games with him. The experience he gained in the Fire Academy and at a top university such as Northwestern make him a perfect fit for our squad.”
Miškovic holds a U.S. green card and will not occupy an international slot on the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro roster.
