COLLEGE PARK, MD – Incoming women’s soccer freshman was officially honored as a 2021 All-American at the United Soccer Coaches Convention earlier this month.

Smith was one of 46 players nationwide to earn the distinction, and will bolster Maryland’s incoming 2022 class under first year coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer.

Smith had a standout year for McDonogh in Baltimore, and was named the 2021 Baltimore Sun girls soccer Metro Player of the Year. The forward scored 17 goals and notched seven assist to help the top-ranked Eagles capture the 2021 IAAM A Conference title. Smith capped her high school career with the game-winning assist in McDonogh’s 1-0 double-overtime win against Archbishop Spalding in the championship game.

In her three varsity campaigns — the Eagles did not play last season due to COVID-19 restrictions — Smith was instrumental in three league titles, closing her career with 37 goals and seven assists.
