KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Alia Martin of the University of Michigan women’s soccer team was named a first team All-America selection, the United Soccer Coaches announced Thursday (Dec. 2). Martin becomes the second first-team selection in program history and ninth overall.

Martin joins exclusive company with Nkem Ezurike (2013) as the other first-team honoree. A first team region and All-Big Ten selection this season, she is also one of 15 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalists.

Martin, a team captain, was the linchpin to a U-M backline that had ten clean sheets on the season. Overcoming early-season injuries, she logged 1,793 minutes of match action and contributed two assists while committing only four fouls from her center back position.

The Carmel, Ind., native now sets her sights on a professional career and has already graduated from U-M with a psychology and cognitive science degree.
