West Brom, Middlesbrough among at least five clubs chasing £3m-rated MK Dons star Scott Twine

Milton Keynes Dons face a huge battle to keep hold of prized asset Scott Twine with a host of Championship clubs looking to land him this summer, TEAMtalk understands.

The Dons landed Twine last summer when they snapped him up from Swindon Town when his contract at the County Ground expired.

They were ordered to pay £300,000 compensation but they could very well earn more than 10 times that – if he departs The MK Stadium this summer.

Twine has been one of League One’s top performers with 20-goals, playing mainly as a number 10. However, he can also play anywhere across the front line.

Now we understand that a host of clubs are looking at Twine – who has played a major role in helping MK Dons into the League One play-off spots.

We understand that Burnley, Norwich, West Brom, Middlesbrough and Stoke are amongst the clubs who are looking at a potential move.

Twine hits the headlines

The MK Dons frontman hit the headlines on the final day of the regular season when became only the second player in club history to score four times in one game, as the Dons ran-out 5-0 winners at Plymouth Argyle.”

“It was probably my best game in an MK Dons shirt,” the midfielder told iFollow MK Dons after the game. “The result, the performance and the goals on top – it couldn’t have gone any better.

“I’m happy with 20 goals, I’d have certainly taken that at the start of the season. I’m buzzing.”

Sadly, he was not among the goals as the Dons crashed to a 2-0 defeat in the first leg of their League One play-off semi-final against semi-final at Wycombe on Thursday night.

Failure to win promotion will almost certainly mean the club will have to cash in on the 22-year-old.
