Brendan Rodgers believes Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has brought Leicester City what they were missing after scoring his first Premier League goal in a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Dewsbury-Hall set up the opening goal for Ademola Lookman in the 39th minute, before scoring Leicester City’s second on the stroke of half-time. Their lead was halved after the break courtesy of Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha converting a rebound after his own missed penalty.

However, Leicester City held on to gain an important three points. It maintains a four-game unbeaten run across all competitions for Rodgers’ side.

They have now reached the 40-point mark, which is enough for them to leapfrog the side they have just beaten. Leicester will end the weekend in ninth place and will aim to stay in the top half this season.

It has been a difficult campaign compared to the last couple under Rodgers. But now, they are rediscovering what has been setting them back in recent months. And according to manager Rodgers, youth product Dewsbury-Hall has been fundamental even before his goalscoring impact.

He told Match of the Day: “I thought we played ever so well. We started really aggressively, pressing them and scored two wonderful goals. We controlled the game with some of our football.

“At 65 minutes they get the penalty so you then expect a little bit of pressure.

“But we defended when we had to. Overall, I thought the players were fantastic.

“Ademola’s goal comes from good pressure….
