Man Utd told why rebuild must begin by axing Sancho and De Gea, ‘jury’s still out’ on third prominent starter

Man Utd have been urged to axe Jadon Sancho and David de Gea this summer after being told what each player simply cannot do.

Manchester United appear on course to appoint Erik ten Hag as their next permanent manager. ESPN led the way on Wednesday, claiming a deal with the Dutchman was set to be finalised. Those sentiments were echoed by prominent journalists within the media including Fabrizio Romano and the Telegraph’s Jason Burt.

But even if Ten Hag gets the nod, talkSPORT pundit Trevor Sinclair reckons United’s fortunes won’t change unless the changes are sweeping.

The ex-winger reckons a new manager is fourth in the list of priorities United must address. Furthermore, he ran the rule over the current Red Devils’ squad, with Sancho and De Gea deemed unfit for purpose.

“It doesn’t matter what manager comes in to Manchester United next if they don’t get their eggs in a row properly and put the people in place that they need to,” Sinclair told talkSPORT.

“Director of football, philosophy, recruitment, manager, and in that order. [Otherwise] they’re just going to end up with a mismatch of players.”

Sinclair then addressed United’s current stars, and stressed £73m summer recruit Sancho should be axed after just one season.

Sancho hasn’t made the impact many would’ve hoped for with just five goals and three assists to his name thus far. Sinclair pointed to his lack of speed as a restriction that will hold him back in the Premier League.
