NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Adysen Armenta delivered a golden goal in the 107th minute to lift No. 1 seed Vanderbilt past eighth-seeded Clemson, 3–2, in a NCAA Second Round matchup Friday night at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.

Clemson (8-6-5) struck early, converting a penalty just 47 seconds into the match as Renee Lyles put the Tigers ahead 1-0. Despite generating 10 first-half shots and eight corner kicks, Vanderbilt entered halftime trailing.

The Commodores (17-3-2) responded quickly after the break with two goals in two minutes. Sydney Watts tied the match in the 55th minute for her 15th goal of the year, finishing a cross from Maci Teater and Mary Beth McLaughlin. Moments later, McLaughlin pounced on a loose ball and buried an unassisted strike to give Vanderbilt a 2–1 advantage. A Commodore handball in the box forced a second penalty in which Anna Castenfelt converted to tie it up and send it to overtime.

Vanderbilt broke through in the 107th minute. Armenta collected a deflection near the top of the box and ripped the golden goal into the net, securing her third score of the season and sending the Dores to its second straight Sweet 16.

Vandy will face fourth-seeded LSU in the Sweet 16 on Monday at 2 p.m. The match will be shown on ESPN+.
