Mane set for Munich flight on Tuesday to complete Bayern medical, unveiling planned

Sadio Mane will travel to Germany on Tuesday to complete his transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich, according to reports.

A £34m deal has been agreed that will bring Mane’s trophy-laden Liverpool career to an end, with the 30-year-old set to be unveiled at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday after his medical.

That’s according to MailOnline, who have revealed that Mane will fly to Munich on Tuesday to finalise arguably the most significant transfer of the summer so far.

Life after Liverpool? Ranking how Klopp’s departees have fared after leaving Anfield…

The Senegalese international has had a campaign to remember with Liverpool, producing a match-winning performance in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City as he completed his trophy set with a domestic cup double.

At international level, Mane scored the winning penalty to seal Senegal’s first ever Africa Cup of Nations, before scoring the winning penalty again – against the same opponents in Egypt – to secure Senegal’s place at the World Cup. Mane recently declared that he “will do what the Senegalese people want” when asked about his future before revealing that this was just “a joke”.

Liverpool will be devastated to lose their frontman, who had a year left on his deal but was keen on a new challenge. According to the pundit Charlie Nicholas, Mane’s exit is a bigger loss to Liverpool than Mohamed Salah leaving, with the Egyptian having also been linked with a move away from the club.

He told BonusCodeBets: “Liverpool should not break the bank to give Mo Salah a new contract. I have tremendous respect for what Salah has done, but this is Liverpool Football Club. They’ve returned to the heights and Jürgen Klopp has taken them to an incredible level.

“The signing of Diogo Jota was clever. He’s not as good a player as Salah, but his goalscoring record is fabulous. I’m a massive fan of Roberto Firmino, he reminds me of Dennis Bergkamp, and I love those types of players.

“He doesn’t have the speed of movement that he once had and because of that, Luis Diaz is now in the side.

“Sadio Mané leaving Liverpool would be a bigger blow than losing Mo Salah. Whilst Salah’s goalscoring record is better, Mané does a lot more for the team.”
