According to reports, Newcastle United are ‘keen on’ Burnley and England goalkeeper Nick Pope, who is valued at around £40m.
Pope signed for Burnley from Charlton Athletic in 2016. He has been a standout player for the Clarets over the past few seasons.
The 30-year-old has featured 141 times for them in the Premier League and he has won their Player of the Year award twice.

Pope has been a regular in Gareth Southgate’s England squad in recent years as he has largely played second fiddle to Jordan Pickford.
Newcastle United have been linked with Dean Henderson, but he now looks set to sign for Nottm Forest.
Instead, the Magpies are showing an ‘interest’ in Pope, according to Sky Sports.
It is noted that Pope has ‘one eye’ on this winter’s World Cup so he is ‘keen to remain in the top flight’.
The report adds that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe wants to ‘bolster his options’ in the goalkeeping department. It has previously been reported that Pope is valued at £40m.
Elsewhere, Arsenal and Newcastle are reportedly the only Premier League sides currently in for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Milinkovic-Savic is out of contract in two years’ time and Lazio are very reluctant to let him leave on a free transfer.
There is no interest in Italy, meanwhile, French champions Paris Saint-Germain should not be ruled out. Given Ten Hag’s transfer approach, the only Premier League sides believed to be in for the midfielder are Newcastle and Arsenal.
Whilst United should not be ruled out completely, the Gunners are reportedly ‘willing to’ pay €50m, but could ‘possibly approach’ €60m.
The Magpies, on the other hand, have unlimited funds and will be able to meet Lazio’s valuation should they wish to do so. The Geordies have ‘come forward in recent months’, however, Milinkovic-Savic ‘does not like it’ and wants to join a ‘top club’.
The report claims that he does not want to join Arsenal or Newcastle as he looks to play Champions League football. However, ‘there are no other solutions’ unless he decides to join either Premier League side.
