FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All four New England Revolution Academy teams were in action this past weekend for the final weekend of the MLS NEXT regular season. The U-19s hosted Seacoast United while the U-15s and U-17s welcomed Toronto FC Academy and CF Montreal to Gillette Stadium. The U-14s faced off against Toronto FC on Saturday.
The Revolution Academy Under-19s defeated Seacoast United 2-1 on Sunday to secure their place in the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs. Hikaru Fujiwara (2003 – Lexington, Mass.) and Malcolm Fry (2005 – Groton, Mass.) each scored to lift the U-19s to victory while Max Weinstein (2004 – Montpelier, V.T.) stood strong in net. The Revolution Academy’s U-15s and U-19s will both be heading to Frisco, Texas from June 25 to July 3 to compete in the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs. The U-17s secured two draws over the weekend with scores of 1-1 vs. Toronto and 0-0 vs. CF Montreal. Olger Escobar (2006 – Lynn, Mass.) scored in Saturday’s match while Ryan Carney (2006 – Dunstable, Mass.) and Kevin Christensen (2006 – Natick, Mass.) each played to secure the clean sheet on Sunday. The U-15s fell to Toronto 4-2 on Saturday, but bounced back to win 3-1 vs. CF Montreal on Sunday with Peyton Miller (2007 – Unionville, Conn.) scoring twice.
The U-14s sailed to a 4-1 victory over Toronto FC with goals coming from Bryan Norena (2008 – Revere, Mass.), Anthony Anduray (2008 – Merrimack, N.H.), Cristiano Carlos (2008 – Chicopee, Mass.), and Rudy Figueroa (2007 – Providence, R.I.).
