NJ/NY Gotham FC & Angel City FC Honor Victims of Gun Violence and Encourage Action

Carli Lloyd Rejoins NJ/NY Gotham FC in New Role as Minority Owner

May 30, 2022 – National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) – NJ/NY Gotham FC News Release

LOS ANGELES Last Night, NJ/NY Gotham FC and Angel City FC players came together to make a statement against gun violence following the recent senseless acts in Uvalde, Buffalo and Laguna Woods. They wore orange, the color recognized to honor those whose lives have been lost to gun violence, and did not start play when the whistle blew.

Instead, they came together at center pitch and held a moment of silence along with those in attendance at Banc of California Stadium. Additionally, the north end Supporter Section of the stadium held orange ribbons, over 800 pieces of orange paper, and hand made signs.

Following the moment of silence and throughout the game, a QR code was shown on the video board with a link to resources to act, learn, and give to end gun violence. Gotham FC returns to the pitch Saturday, June 4 to take on the Washington Spirit for a 7 p.m. contest at Red Bull Arena.
