Chelsea, Man City ‘intend to sign’ Leicester defender with Juventus, Real Madrid also keen

Reported Chelsea and Man City target Caglar Soyuncu after a match

Chelsea and Manchester City are both interested in signing Leicester City centre-half Caglar Soyuncu, according to reports.

Soyuncu has been at Leicester since signing from Freiburg for around £19m in 2018.

He has played 123 times for the Foxes – including 41 appearances this season – and helped his side win the FA Cup in 2020/21.

Leicester are reportedly considering the sale of the Turkish international this summer, and he is not expected to be short of suitors.

Soyuncu is an ‘option’ for Real Madrid, meanwhile, Manchester City, Chelsea and Juventus ‘intend’ to sign him, according to Spanish outlet AS (via Leicester Mercury).

The defender’s contract expires in 2023, so Leicester could look to cash in this summer as opposed to tying him down to a new deal.

He is reportedly valued as high as €40m as Brendan Rodgers seeks funds to shake up his current squad.

The Foxes are also said to be considering the sales of Ayoze Perez, Hamza Choudhury and Jannik Vestergaard.

As well as the aforementioned clubs, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also said to be keen on signing Soyuncu. Barca tried to sign the 26-year-old during his time at Turkish outfit Altinordu between 2014-2016.

Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is ‘pushing’ the Gunners’ hierarchy to make an opening bid for Leicester playmaker Youri Tielemans.

The Belgian is out of contract at the end of next season and Arteta is keen on bringing him to the Emirates after completing ‘a number of background checks’ on the player, as per The Telegraph.

Arsenal’s head of UK scouting, James Ellis, was at the King Power on Sunday to watch the Foxes’ 4-1 win against Southampton.

The Gunners are thought to be plotting a £25m bid, however, Leicester could seek at least £30m for the 25-year-old.
