Back in the Open Cup: San Antonio FC is back in US Open Cup play, now in the round of 32 against Houston Dynamo FC. SAFC has advanced to the round of 32 twice before, but never through to the round of 16. SAFC and Dynamo have met in this round before, with Dynamo winning 4-0 in 2016.
The Ones Who Hate to Lose: Under head coach Alen Marcina, SAFC is 7-1-2 in the first match back after a loss. The lone set of consecutive losses came in 2020, with SAFC going 6-0-2 since with a +9 goal differential.
