Europa: West Ham 'Didn't Deserve to Win' According to Moyes

West Ham United manager David Moyes admits his side didnt deserve to win as they lost their Europa League semi-final first leg 2-1 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

Ansgar Knauff netted in the opening minute before Michail Antonio levelled, with Daichi Kamada netting the winner 10 minutes into the second half.

The result puts the Germans in the box seat to qualify for the decider to be played in Sevilla on May 18.

The Hammers had 15-8 shots with 54 percent possession but failed to create as many genuine opportunities, with Eintracht having 4-2 shots on target.

“We didnt deserve to win the game tonight,” Moyes told reporters. “We didnt play well enough.

“I think if you play well, then you can talk that way, but I dont think we really deserved it.

“We didnt show enough quality, certainly in the attacking areas when we did have those moments, and there were a couple of times when we had to defend and we didnt defend well enough.”

Elsewhere, RB Leipzig put a foot in the final with a 1-0 home win over Scottish champions Rangers.

Leipzig needed to wait until the 85th minute for the breakthrough, coming from an excellent Angelino volley after a corner was half cleared.

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst told BT Sport: “It’s always disappointing when you lose a goal so late in the game. But the players played really well and next week we’re at home and Ibrox will give us the energy we need.

“We need to attack them at the right moments with more bodies. But a 1-0 defeat, we can overcome that.”
