Report reveals one Man Utd star Ten Hag is ‘concerned’ about

Erik ten Hag is worried that Man Utd goalkeeper David de Gea won’t have a place in his starting XI, according to reports.

The Dutchman was confirmed last week as the new permanent Man Utd manager from the end of the season with Ten Hag signing a deal until June 2025, with the option of another year.

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who will be moving into a consultancy role when Ten Hag takes over, sparked rumours last week that there could be a huge overhaul at Old Trafford in the summer.

The German boss insisted that as many as ten players could be coming into the Premier League club in the summer with a number of players leaving too.

De Gea has been one of United’s better performers this season, producing a number of good saves in important matches. However, ESPN claim that ‘Ten Hag is concerned about’ the Spaniard’s ‘suitability for his system but there is an acceptance there are more immediate issues to solve within the squad this summer’.

Dean Henderson, who could replace De Gea in net, is still looking to leave Old Trafford this summer but ‘so far the club have insisted their preference is to organise a season-long loan for the England goalkeeper’.

The report adds that there ‘priority’ is to sign three players this summer with ‘a striker and at least one midfielder’ at the top of their list.

ESPN name Benfica’s Darwin Nunez and Tottenham’s Harry Kane as two striker targets, while West Ham’s Declan Rice is again mentioned as a midfield option.

Meanwhile, Diogo Dalot thinks the Man Utd players need to “fight” for the club and the fans and see where it takes them this season.
