Erik ten Hag has revealed that having a say in transfers was an important “condition” ahead of accepting the Man Utd job.
The Red Devils confirmed on Thursday that Ten Hag would become the club’s new manager at the end of the season.

He has won two Eredivisie titles with Ajax and is currently seeking a third with the Amsterdam side four points ahead of PSV with five games remaining.
Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was also linked with the Old Trafford job, with Man Utd opting for the 52-year-old Dutchman.
Much has been said already about Ten Hag’s first transfer window in charge, with many reporting that a huge squad overhaul is inbound.
The window will have been discussed in some capacity during talks, and Ten Hag has revealed that he would not have accepted the job if his transfer demands were not accepted.
Speaking to Dutch outlet Trouw, the Ajax boss said (quotes via Sports Illustrated): “I make demands in advance before I arrive. If the club doesn’t grand them I won’t take the job. I am the one responsible, I am the one who will get judged by results.
“I don’t want to be a ruler, I will work together, but having a say in transfers is a condition for me.
“I think that with me in charge.. I made Ajax play the Ajax way. With always the intention to play great, and to play good. With adventure and beauty. There is a bigger winning mentality here now.”
Cristiano Ronaldo‘s future is up in the air after just one season back at Old Trafford. The Portuguese has scored 21 goals in 35 games across all competitions in 2021/22.
Ten Hag has laughed off speculation that he will struggle to deal with a player of Ronaldo’s calibre.
He continued: “I think I can [deal with big name footballers], but I will stay myself in that. I won’t change my vision. I will tell them their task and whoever does not meet those tasks will hear that from me, no matter who it is.”
