Arsenal 'unlikely to block' transfer for Tierney, as emergence of new suitor prompts £50m plan

Real Madrid are ready to accelerate their plans for the transfer of Kieran Tierney, an update claims, while the potential response from Arsenal has also come to light.

Tierney has recently been established as a target for Real Madrid. They are considering the addition of a left-back given that Marcelo is approaching the end of his time with the club. Ferland Mendy is a strong current option, but he could be paired with another player.

In that regard, they have their eyes on Arsenal left-back Tierney. They originally went to scout Bukayo Saka, but although he impresses them too, his clubmate caught their attention.

Now, the Sunday Post are reporting that Real Madrid could quickly convert their interest in Tierney into a bid.

Their headline makes it clear that they are “preparing” an offer of £50m for the Scotland international’s services. That would allow Arsenal to double their initial investment in Tierney, whom they signed from Celtic in 2019.

Even though he is a regular starter, it seems Arsenal would not begrudge Tierney the opportunity to represent Real. The report claims they would be “unlikely to block” a move to one of Europe’s elite, as long as the price is right.

It is up to them to set those demands for a player whose contract with them is due to run until 2026.

Fortunately in that regard, interest in Tierney is growing. With that in mind, they should be able to drive up their asking price for Tierney, even if they would really rather keep…
