Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has hit out at talkSPORT and Danny Murphy over “clickbait” which made him out to be negative over the Reds’ summer “transfer ideas”.
There has been criticism of Liverpool in recent weeks following a slow start to the season in the Premier League which has seen them nine points from a possible 18.
And the critics got louder following a dismal defensive display against Napoli on Wednesday night as Liverpool lost 4-1 to Luciano Spalletti’s side in their first Champions League match of the season.
Liverpool’s worst defeats under Jurgen Klopp and how the Reds responded
Liverpool brought in Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay during the early part of the transfer window with Juventus midfielder Arthur signing on loan on deadline day.

“It’s all well and good being wise after the event. I didn’t see too many articles this summer going ‘if Liverpool don’t get a midfielder they’re not going to challenge for the title’. Everyone, including me, said it’s going to be Liverpool and City again, they nearly won the Quadruple.
“Three months ago we were talking about Liverpool nearly having one of the greatest seasons in history.”
Host Jim White then asked: “So is Jamie Carragher being wise after the event do you think, Danny? Liverpool massively got their transfer ideas in the summer wrong.”
Murphy added:…
