Contracts

Chelsea have given their star young right-back Reece James a new deal that will not expire until 2028.

Transfers

Walsall have signed two free agents. Former Chelsea youngster Jacob Maddox has joined after being released by Vitoria Guimaraes and teenage striker Jonas Mukuna has also joined after a lengthy trial period, spending the entirety of pre-season with Walsall.

Former Manchester City winger Nolito has found a new club in LaLiga2 as the veteran free agent has signed for UD Ibiza.

Injury Round Up

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been forced to have the knee surgery he was hoping to avoid after attempting to train. The selective external arthroscopic meniscectomy was said to be “a complete success” but the 29-year-old is almost certain to miss the World Cup this winter as he recovers.

Manchester City’s former Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kyle Walker is a doubt for the next few games after being taken off against Aston Villa with an injury. The England international also missed City’s open training session on Monday leaving him a doubt.

Manchester City have poached Ryan DeFreitas from Leicester City to become their first-team performance analyst for training. DeFreitas originally joined the Foxes back in 2013 as a performance analysis and recruitment intern before rising to become their Lead Academy Performance Analyst.

 


Disciplinary Charges

Police have launched an investigation after former Everton youngster Hallam Hope was “viciously assaulted” and left with “serious injuries” after playing for Oldham Athletic against Chesterfield. The incident happened in the staff car park after the game and Chesterfield have admitted that they are aware of an allegation relating to one of their players.
