Manchester United have been handed a boost in their hopes of signing Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio.
United are looking to improve their side late on in the transfer window as Erik ten Hag continues to overhaul the playing squad at Old Trafford.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Asensio has told the European champions that he is looking to leave the club, with Relevo reporting that this comes amid interest from several English and Italian clubs, including United who are leading the way for the 26-year-old’s signature.

‘Marco is looking at things to see if he can leave,’ said Ancelotti (via Relevo), who won UEFA men’s coach of the year yesterday. ‘If he doesn’t leave, he will 100% be a Madrid player.’
The Spanish outlet add that United are considering making a formal offer of more than £25.3m for the 28-cap Spain international.
The Red Devils have signed four players so far this transfer window, headlined by Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who joined the club in a £70million deal from Madrid last week.
Asensio is now looking to follow his former team-mate out of the door in the search for first-team minutes and Old Trafford could be a possible destination.
