Romeo Lavia is due for a Southampton medical in the next 48 hours, ahead of his £14m move from Manchester City.
Belgian midfield starlet Lavia, 18, is on the verge of a switch to St Mary’s after the two clubs agreed a deal over the weekend.
He is set to become Ralph Hasenhuttl’s fourth summer signing and the latest youngster to leave one of the Premier League’s elite to join Southampton for the chance to kickstart their career with first-team football.

Southampton are also hoping to fight off competition from the likes of Nottingham Forest and Fulham to win the race for Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo.
Aribo is a man in demand after an excellent season in which he was one of Rangers’ most used players, making 57 appearances, scoring nine times – including in the Europa League final against Eintract Frankfurt – and set up 10 more.
A versatile player, Aribo played in central midfield, attacking midfield, down the right and ended the season playing up front due to injuries elsewhere in Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s squad.
City were reluctant to let Lavia leave but will insert a buy back and sell-on clause for the teen
Aribo, who joined Rangers from Charlton in 2019, has just one year left on his Rangers contract.
Southampton have added goalkeepers Gavin Bazunu and Mateusz Lis plus centre-back Armel Bella-Kotchap with Lavia and, potentially, Aribo next.
They also looking to strengthen their attack following the departures of Armando Broja and Shane Long.
