LOS ANGELES – Down 1-0 at halftime, the LA Galaxy battled back to earn a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers in front of 21,414 fans at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday afternoon. Dejan Joveljić tallied his fourth goal in league play, while Julián Araujo registered his second assist of the season in the draw against Portland.
LA Galaxy Against Portland Timbers
Saturday’s match marked the 31st MLS regular-season meeting between LA and Portland, with the Galaxy leading the series 13-11-7. In their last four matches played against the Timbers dating back to July 30, 2021, the Galaxy hold a 3-0-1 record, outscoring Portland 10-4. In 16 regular-season matches played against the Timbers at Dignity Health Sports, LA holds a 9-3-4 record.
The MLS Leader In Goals Scored Per 90 Minutes Played
With his game-tying goal in the draw against the Timbers, Joveljić tallied a goal in three consecutive matches across all competitions dating back to May 25, recording four goals and two assists during that span. Notably, Joveljić ranks first in MLS with 1.27 goals scored per 90 minutes played amongst all players that have played at least 275 minutes this season. Joveljić is the first Galaxy player to score a goal in back-to-back matches in league play as a substitute since Edson Buddle in 2009.

POR – Yimmi Chara (Sebastián Blanco), 38th minute: Running down the left flank, Sebastian Blanco played a ball into the center of the box to Yimmi Chara, who fired his shot into the bottom right corner of the net.
LA – Dejan Joveljić (Julián Araujo, Kelvin Leerdam), 88th minute: After receiving the ball from Kelvin Leerdam, Julián Araujo’s cross from the right wing to the right edge of the six-yard box found Dejan Joveljić, whose snap header found the far corner of the net.
