CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Seven ACC teams will play in the round of 16 in the 2024 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship this weekend, with matches on Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1, airing on ESPN+.
Clemson, NC State, Pitt, SMU, Stanford, Virginia and Wake Forest remain alive in the field and make up seven of the 16 remaining teams. After meeting just 13 days previously in the ACC Championship Game, Clemson and Wake Forest will match up again at 6 p.m. Sunday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for a berth in the Elite Eight.
With seven teams in the Sweet 16, the ACC has more than three times the number of remaining teams of any other conference. The next closest conference has two (A-10, Big Ten, Summit). Nine ACC teams earned bids to the NCAA Tournament, also the most of any conference this year.
ACC teams went 7-1-2 during the first week of the 2024 NCAA Championship, including NC State picking up two wins to earn its first Sweet 16 berth since 1992.
The ACC claimed seven of the 16 national seeds: Pitt (2), Wake Forest (8), Clemson (9), Duke (10), Virginia (11), SMU (12) and Stanford (16).
This marks the 12th straight season in which the ACC placed the most teams in the tournament and the 24th consecutive season that at least five league teams earned a bid.
All NCAA Tournament action will air on ESPN+ until the NCAA College Cup, which will be broadcast on ESPNU on Dec. 13 and 16.
